Learn what to do in an overdose emergency. You can save lives.

We host overdose rescue training sessions that are open to the public, and we also offer training sessions for private groups and organizations. Private training sessions are currently offered via Zoom or in-person at a location that is convenient for your group. We continue to host monthly public overdose rescue training sessions via Zoom.

The training session lasts approximately one hour and covers...

  • Information about the current state of the opioid overdose crisis in the country and our communities

  • Signs of an opioid related overdose

  • How and when to give someone Narcan

  • How to perform CPR

  • How to take care of someone after they survive an overdose

  • How to test for fentanyl

  •

All participants receive a free Overdose Rescue Kit containing Narcan at the end of the training. Narcan is an overdose-reversal medicine that comes in an easy-to-use nasal spray device. The kit is also printed with instructions for providing aid during an overdose emergency and contains resource cards with information about local treatment and recovery services. Participants who attend an online session and have a Michigan mailing address will receive their Overdose Rescue Kit in the mail following the training.
